What is the difference between kn95 and n95 masks
There is not much difference between the KN95 mask and N95 mask, mainly because of the different detection standards of the mask. The KN95 respirator complies with Chinese testing standards, while the N95 respirator complies with American testing standards.
KN95 respirator is produced in accordance with the Chinese standard GB2626-2006 Respiratory Protective Equipment - Self-priming Filtration Anti-particle Respirator. KN is the performance standard that can filter non-oily particles. According to the level of filtering efficiency and the level of filtering elements, it can be divided into several different types. KN95 mask is only one of them, as well as KN90, KN100, etc. The KN95 respirator is a self-priming filter anti-particle respirator with a filtration rate of more than 95% for non-oily particles.
N95 respirator is one of the 9 anti-particle respirators certified by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health of the United States. N means particles that are not suitable for oiliness, and 95 means that the filtration efficiency reaches 95% under the detection conditions specified in the NIOSH standard. N95 is not a specific product name. As long as it meets the N95 standard and passes the review, it can be called N95 mask.
In essence, there is no obvious difference between the KN95 mask and the N95 mask. The protection efficiency of both of them against non-oily particles such as sodium chloride particles used in the experiment is not less than 95%. It should be noted that civilian common protective masks can also help reduce the possibility of self infection with novel coronavirus. Therefore, it is recommended to select the appropriate type of mask according to your actual situation.
